Imagine the increase in financial responsibility for families undergoing treatment, combined with the loss of income as adults miss days of work to care for their sick child. The financial stress throughout diagnosis and treatment can be crushing. To help ease the burden, we provide families with gift cards for gas and groceries. Doing so allows parents to put the focus back where it is needed most - on the children.

Travel Expenses
Many families facing the challenges of childhood cancer encounter significant travel expenses associated with medical visits. Our support extends to offer mileage reimbursement for these appointments.
-
Children who have been through cancer deserve the opportunity of a bright future. We offer a yearly scholarship to eligible childhood cancer survivors for higher learning institutions, enabling survivors to achieve their academic and career aspirations!
-
Social events are a necessary avenue of support for families. They help facilitate belonging during a time where many family members may feel isolated. Our social events are always free for immediate family members and include; the annual Julia Fittante Memorial Fishing Trip, a Christmas party, Parent’s Night Out, and other activities such as movie nights, sporting events, and a pool party. In the event a child earns their angel wings, the family is still welcome to attend events.

A duffel bag is given to all new families which consists of gift cards for gas and groceries, toiletries for overnight hospital stays, and A Helping Hand handbook.
-
A binder with uplifting messages where the family can keep all their important information regarding treatment (lab results, medication schedule, treatment days, doctor appointments, etc.)

FOCWC supports HSHS St. Vincent Hospital’s Bravery Beads program. Patients are given beads at each appointment as tangible reminders of their fight. Post- treatment, the beads serve as a memento of their journey and a symbol of hope.
